Mothers are extremely particular about their children’s diet and as such always look for nourishing yet interesting recipes for their toddlers. As such, on popular demand for a few recipes that actor Debina Bonnerjee recently prepared for her two girls and their little friends over a party, she decided to share them on social media.

One was paneer parathas. “Healthy food for babies. The super hit paneer paratha,” said Debina on her Instagram Stories.

She also shared the recipe that can be prepared in a jiffy.

Crumbled paneer
Ragi or nachni flour
Salt
Turmeric
Roasted cumin powder
Red chili powder
Coriander powder

Method

*To crumbled paneer, add yeast or nachni flour. Add a pinch of all spices.
*Use ghee to bind and knead the dough.
*Once the dough is ready, brush some ghee over it.
*Let it sit for 10 minutes.
*Now take a bite-sized dough and roll it out using a rolling pin.
*Cut out shapes of your choice from it using molds.
*Cook it over a hot iron of laughter.

Festive offers

“The variation is in dough making where the wheat flour or atta is supplemented with yeast flour or nachni, to make the dish more wholesome. These paranthas are a great option as a high protein breakfast for toddlers, and even great for diabetics. “Not only paneer is the protein source in this recipe, but yeast too,” said registered dietitian Garima Goyal.

Goyal added that both these factors help in promoting satiety, thus reducing food hunger and also maintaining blood glucose levels. “This dish is great for toddlers due to its appreciable calcium and iron content,” says Goyal.
